Fire burns on Missisisppi Gulf Coast forcing evacuations in Long Beach and elsewhere

High winds have reignited a fire on the Missisisppi Gulf Coast, forcing some resident in Long Beach to evacuate.

From Wanda Allen on Facebook:

In case you haven’t heard our little town of Long Beach, MS is on fire and it just keeps getting worse. This fire is now & less than 1/4 mile from our home.
Y’all keep us in us and everyone else in it’s path in your prayers.

From the Mississippi weather Network:

GULFPORT WOODS FIRE: MWN sends a major shout-out to the crews in Harrison County working to battle a large woods fire that has plagued crews for multiple days now. The winds have shifted direction from yesterday, to the north, which has now put areas along Interstate 10 and further north at risk, this includes some structures.

We have a tip that the Flying-J truck stop and a local hotel have been evacuated as a precaution. Mississippi Weather Network is following this developing situation and will be committed to keeping those in the affected area up to date on the fire weather conditions
