GLEN, Miss. — The accolades continue to roll in for Alcorn Central standout Wilson McDonald.
Fresh off surpassing the 2,000-point mark in his career and leading the state in scoring at nearly 27 points per game, McDonald has now been named the 2026 3A Mr. Basketball — one of the highest individual honors in Mississippi high school basketball.
The award recognizes the top player in Class 3A across the state, and McDonald’s dominant season made him a clear choice. His ability to score from anywhere on the floor, take over games in crucial moments and elevate his team throughout the year has set him apart.
Alcorn Central Athletics celebrated the announcement, posting:
“Congratulations to Wilson McDonald for being named 3A Mr Basketball! That is an incredible honor and so proud of the way you represent AC!”
McDonald’s impact goes far beyond the stat sheet. While his scoring numbers grab headlines, his leadership and consistency have been just as important for the Alcorn Central Bears. Throughout the season, he has carried the offensive load while continuing to improve as a playmaker and defender.
