Alcorn County Hosts Countywide School Bus Driver Safety Training
CORINTH, Miss. — School bus drivers across Alcorn County recently participated in a countywide safety training event aimed at enhancing student transportation safety and driver preparedness.
The training session, facilitated with assistance from the Mississippi Department of Public Safety’s Center for Transportation and Environmental Development (CTED), covered several key areas. These included proper pre-trip inspections, accident response procedures, radio communication protocols with 911 dispatchers, and an overview of Nathan’s Law — a state law designed to protect children boarding or exiting school buses. General safety awareness was also emphasized throughout the program.
Organizers say the training reinforces the critical role drivers play in ensuring student safety each day.
“We’re grateful for the participation and commitment shown by all involved,” said officials with the Mississippi Department of Public Safety. “Their dedication helps keep Mississippi’s children safe on their journey to and from school.”
