TUPELO – A Baldwyn man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to trafficking methamphetamine and tampering with evidence.

Benjamin Joyner Nelson, 37, was arrested on July 11, 2024, on Meadow Creek Drive in Prentiss County, where deputies recovered more than 60 grams of methamphetamine.

On Tuesday, Circuit Court Judge Michael P. Mills, Jr. handed down a 50-year sentence, with 40 years suspended. Nelson will be required to serve the remaining 10 years “day for day,” meaning he is ineligible for parole or early release.
