Excessive Heat Warning and Heat Advisory Issued Across Northern Mississippi

July 3, 2024 — The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning and a Heat Advisory for several counties in northern Mississippi, effective today through tomorrow evening. This warning covers a wide area including Corinth, Ripley, Ashland, New Albany, Holly Springs, Booneville, Oxford, and Iuka.

The Excessive Heat Warning is set to be in effect from 10 AM to 8 PM CDT today, with forecasted heat index values soaring up to 110 degrees Fahrenheit. Following this, a Heat Advisory will take effect from 9 PM this evening until 9 PM CDT Thursday, with heat index values expected to reach up to 109 degrees Fahrenheit.

Counties affected by these alerts include Alcorn, Benton, Lafayette, Marshall, Prentiss, Tippah, Tishomingo, and Union.
