“Guns, Green, and Gators”: Picayune PD Tells the Tale of the “Picayune King”

The Picayune Police Department has arrested a man following an investigation conducted by the Special Operations Division.

According to a press release from the Picayune Police Department, Ryan Howard of Glenwood Street was arrested on various charges.

The Picayune Police Department teased the release of this story with a social media post that read, “You might have heard of the Tulsa King, but have you heard of the Picayune King? Stay tuned!”

Later, the Picayune Police Department released the details of this recent arrest.

Over the last few weeks, the Special Operations Division of the Picayune PD received information that Ryan Howard was involved in illegal activity. As the investigation was conducted, the department was contacted by St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office. St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office had just arrested Howard, providing Picayune PD with information needed to conduct a search warrant.

Once at the residence, detectives located 51 lbs of marijuana, packaging material for bulk sales, anabolic steroids, 6 ounces of mushrooms, 13 vials of marijuana seeds for further production, and 14 firearms.

In addition, the detectives discovered eight alligators in the backyard pool.

At the time of his arrest by St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office, Howard and his child, a minor, were discovered transportying 80 lbs of marijuana.

The investigation into the matter is ongoing, and more charges are expected. The Mississippi Department of Wildlife Fisheries and Parks will be in charge of coordinating the relocation of the alligators.

The Picayune PD social media posts concludes with the following statement.

“To those who haven’t gotten the memo about dealing drugs in Picayune, we are going to repeat it. We will work with anyone to put you in jail and make our city safer! We will not rest to make sure our city and even the alligators are safe!
