Woman Hospitalized After Reported Assault by Suspected Police Impersonator In Alcorn County
ALCORN COUNTY, Miss. (Oct. 30, 2025) — Authorities are investigating after a woman reported being assaulted early Thursday morning by a man impersonating a law enforcement officer along Highway 72 near the Tippah–Alcorn County line.
According to the Alcorn County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were first alerted around 6:29 a.m. by a Life360 crash detection notification near the intersection of Highway 72 and County Road 605. Responding deputies were unable to locate a vehicle at that time.
About 30 minutes later, around 7:06 a.m., deputies were dispatched to Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth, where the victim had driven herself for treatment. The woman, who was driving a silver Cadillac XT5 SUV, told investigators she had been pulled over by an unknown vehicle displaying a blue dashboard light.
She described the suspect as a white male wearing a dark-colored T-shirt. During the stop, the man allegedly asked for her driver’s license before striking her in the head with an unknown object, causing her to lose consciousness. When she regained awareness, she drove to the hospital.
Family members told media outlets that the woman suffered visible injuries consistent with being struck by a flashlight and had her clothing torn during the assault.
The Alcorn County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the investigation is in its early stages.
Anyone who was traveling on Highway 72 near Walnut between 6 and 7 a.m. Thursday or who may have seen suspicious activity is urged to contact the Alcorn County Sheriff’s Office at 662-286-5521.
