Bomb Threat In Downtown Booneville With Tupelo Bomb Squad on Scene

BOONEVILLE, Miss. — A portion of downtown Booneville was evacuated late Wednesday morning, August 6, following the discovery of a suspicious package. Witnesses on the scene reported that the Tupelo Bomb Squad responded to assist local authorities in evaluating and securing the area.

The Tupelo Bomb Squad, a specialized unit trained in explosive detection and disposal, serves as one of the region’s key emergency response teams for handling potential bomb threats and suspicious devices. Equipped with advanced robotics, protective gear, and explosive containment tools, the team works closely with local, state, and federal agencies in situations like this.

As of 11 a.m., law enforcement had cordoned off part of downtown as a precaution while the investigation continued. Officials have not yet released further details regarding the package or its contents.
