Corinth Man Sentenced to Life in Prison for 2022 Murder of Romiro Scott
CORINTH, Miss. – July 18, 2025 — A Corinth man has been sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to first-degree murder in the 2022 shooting death of Romiro Scott.
Tyrone Traylor Sr., 50, entered the guilty plea Friday in Alcorn County Circuit Court for the fatal shooting, which took place on April 24, 2022, at an apartment on Pierce Street in Corinth. Senior Circuit Judge Paul S. Funderburk accepted the plea and handed down a life sentence.
In addition to the murder conviction, Traylor received a 30-year sentence for additional charges of shooting into a dwelling and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
The Corinth Police Department led the investigation, with Detective Jerry Rogers serving as the lead investigator. The Mississippi Highway Patrol assisted in Traylor’s capture after he fled the scene.
The case was prosecuted by District Attorney Jason Herring and Assistant District Attorney Kyle Robbins for the First Circuit Court District.
