Corinth Woman Sentenced to 30 years for Series of Counterfeit Check Schemes in Booneville and Alcorn County; Co-Suspect Still Wanted

BOONEVILLE, MS (July 2025) — A Corinth woman has been sentenced to 30 years, with 10 to serve, following a multi-county investigation into a series of counterfeit checks passed at local businesses in Booneville and Corinth.

According to the Booneville Police Department, an investigation launched in March 2025 by the Criminal Investigation Division identified Catrina Denise Timbes, 38, of Corinth, and James Arthur Timbes, 36, of Booneville, as suspects in the fraud scheme. Catrina Timbes was arrested with the help of Corinth Police and later pleaded guilty to multiple charges in both Prentiss and Alcorn counties.

She was ordered to pay restitution to all victims and was convicted of the following crimes in Booneville:

False Pretenses at a business on East Church Street (March 17, 2025)
False Pretenses at a business on North Second Street (April 16, 2025)
Conspiracy to Commit Fraud at a business on East Church Street (April 28, 2025)
Her 30-year sentence includes 20 years suspended, leaving 10 years to serve in prison.
