Booneville Continues Recovery Efforts After Ice Storm
The city of Booneville is continuing its response and recovery efforts after a recent ice storm, according to a statement from Mayor Lori Tucker. Emergency coordination with Prentiss County Emergency Management Agency Director Bud Lindsey remains ongoing.
Utilities are operational, with natural gas and water services restored. Crews are working on small leaks in various areas. Donations of bottled water, blankets, food, and hygiene products are arriving, with distribution locations to be announced, officials said.
The Booneville Street Department has been clearing storm debris and improving street access. The city received assistance from six crew members from the City of Amory and support from the Mississippi National Guard, which is helping with street clearing operations. Communication with the Booneville School District continues, and the warming station at Swift Park will remain open throughout the weekend.
City officials expressed gratitude to volunteers who prepared meals and donated supplies. The Booneville Police and Fire Departments continue to support residents, and city and county leaders remain engaged in ongoing coordination efforts. The city is also in contact with state legislators and assistance agencies, and engineers are working on recovery plans.
