Man sentenced to 25 years for second-degree murder in Tupelo
TUPELO, Miss. — A man convicted of second-degree murder was sentenced to 25 years in prison last week, according to court records.
Jaedin Jacques Hatchett pleaded guilty to the charge on Feb. 12, 2026. He was indicted for the March 5, 2023, shooting death of Montavious Jemar Clifton.
Judge John R. White sentenced Hatchett to the Mississippi Department of Corrections. The sentence includes no eligibility for parole or early release, and Hatchett will serve the full 25 years. An additional 15 years of suspended time was also noted.
Upon release, Hatchett will be required to complete five years of post-release supervision, court records show. The case was investigated by the Tupelo Police Department.
Sadie Gardner, an assistant district attorney, prosecuted the case on behalf of the state. Jason D. Herring is the district attorney for the First Circuit Court District, according to official records.
