Mississippi Auditor Office partners with ICE under 287(g) program
The Mississippi Office of the State Auditor has partnered with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement under the 287(g) program, according to an announcement from the office.
Agents from the Auditor’s Office participating in the program will assist with immigration enforcement if necessary, the statement said.
The office also highlighted that illegal immigration costs taxpayers more than $100 million annually. Officials said they aim to reduce this financial burden and prevent waste of taxpayer funds.
The partnership is part of broader efforts to address immigration issues and protect public resources, according to the release.
