Mississippi EMA Continues Review of Individual Assistance Request
The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) is awaiting a decision from FEMA on the state’s request for Individual Assistance. The agency has emphasized the importance of damage reports from residents to strengthen the case for federal aid.
MEMA encourages residents who have not yet submitted damage reports to do so via their Self-Report Tool available on the agency’s website. The tool is used solely for data collection and does not serve as an application for financial assistance or emergency services.
Officials clarified that submitting a damage report is not an application for aid. They also noted that the self-report tool is not a 9-1-1 service. Residents with immediate, life-threatening needs should call 9-1-1 directly.
As of now, the status of the Individual Assistance Declaration remains under review. MEMA continues to monitor the situation and urges community members to submit damage reports to aid in the federal review process.
