Mississippi governor offers update on winter storm response

Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves on Thursday offered an update on the state’s response to the winter storm sweeping through the region.

Reeves said state agencies are working to clear roads, assist stranded motorists, and ensure residents have access to emergency services. He urged residents to stay off the roads if possible and to follow safety advisories.

The governor’s office reported that crews are deploying equipment to high-traffic areas and coordinating with local officials to address ongoing weather-related challenges. No major injuries or fatalities have been reported as of the update.

Reeves also encouraged residents to check on neighbors and to prepare for continued winter weather conditions in the coming days.
