Mississippi Highway Patrol celebrates 88 years of service

The Mississippi Department of Public Safety and the Mississippi Highway Patrol are celebrating their 88th anniversary, according to a news release from the agencies.

Established in 1938 under Senate Bill 161, the agencies have dedicated nearly nine decades to serving and protecting Mississippi residents. Their mission remains focused on keeping roads safe and strengthening communities.

From the first patrol cars to current officers in uniform, the agencies have upheld a commitment to integrity and community service, the release stated. Officials expressed gratitude for the continued support and dedication of personnel over the years.

The agencies look forward to future efforts to improve public safety across the state, the release added.
