Mississippi National Guard, Wildlife Officials Assisting Alcorn County Amid Weather Conditions

The Mississippi Army National Guard and the Mississippi Department of Wildlife Fisheries and Parks are assisting the Alcorn County Sheriff’s Office and local residents, according to officials.

MDWFP officers are helping deputies respond to calls for service and patrol the county. The Mississippi Army National Guard is providing security at the emergency management agency warming shelter and conducting welfare checks across the area.

While weather conditions are improving with sunshine and warmer temperatures, officials warn that some parts of the county remain dangerous for travel. They urge motorists to slow down and drive carefully, especially with work crews and first responders on the roads.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation as cleanup and recovery efforts proceed.
