Mississippi prepares for winter storm with ice forecast and safety tips
The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency issued a winter weather alert as the National Weather Service forecasts an ice storm starting late tonight and continuing through Sunday.
The agency emphasized the importance of the 4 P’s of preparedness: People, pets, pipes, and plants. Residents are advised to check on vulnerable neighbors, bring pets indoors, insulate pipes and leave water dripping, and cover or bring inside plants.
MEMAs also provided a link to local warming shelters for those in need of refuge from the cold. The website offers a list of available shelters and safe rooms across the state.
Officials urge residents to stay updated on weather conditions and take necessary precautions to stay safe during the storm.
