Mississippi State Auditor Shad White comments on DiBiase trial outcome
JACKSON, Miss. — State Auditor Shad White issued a statement following the recent trial related to the welfare scandal. White said he is disappointed in the outcome but highlighted that seven individuals have already pleaded guilty to state or federal charges connected to the case.
White added that his hope now is for the state’s lawyers to recover as much of the misspent money as possible through civil court proceedings. He emphasized that taxpayers deserve accountability for the funds that were misused, according to his statement.
The welfare scandal has prompted multiple charges and guilty pleas, with authorities continuing efforts to hold those responsible accountable. White’s comments reflect ongoing concerns about the misuse of public funds and the pursuit of restitution.
