Mississippi State Auditor Shad White recognized for uncovering $400M in government waste
Jackson, Miss. — Mississippi State Auditor Shad White has been recognized by the State Financial Officers Foundation (SFOF) for uncovering more than $400 million in waste within state government, the organization announced in its inaugural 2025 Oversight Report.
White praised the recognition, stating, “It’s an honor to be named among the State Auditors fighting the rampant fraud, waste, and abuse in government. From Vice President Vance’s leadership on the anti-fraud task force to state-level officers, fraud now has nowhere to hide.”
The report highlights White’s “MOGE” report, which compiles audits revealing over $400 million in government waste identified by the Mississippi Office of the State Auditor. It also notes White’s efforts in exposing nonprofit organizations that misuse taxpayer funds.
According to the Oversight Report, White’s work exemplifies the importance of independent audits in safeguarding public resources and promoting accountability. The report covers achievements from 40 financial officers across 28 states managing more than $3 trillion in state funds. The full report is available online.
