Mississippi State Lakes set new record for crappie catch
The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks announced a new record at one of the state’s lakes. Don Barnes caught a 2.25-pound crappie at Simpson County Lake, setting a new lake record.
The department encouraged anglers to visit other state lakes for fishing opportunities. A list of lakes is available on the department’s website.
Officials did not specify the previous record or additional details about the catch. The department continues to promote fishing at Mississippi’s public lakes and reservoirs.
