Mississippi to Host Live Q&A on Turkey Hunting Regulations

Mississippi wildlife officials will hold a live question-and-answer session on Facebook on March 3 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The event aims to clarify regulations for the upcoming 2026 turkey hunting season.

Hunters are encouraged to submit questions about licensing and game check procedures in the comments during the event. The Mississippi Wild Turkey Stamp is required for all hunters 16 and older hunting turkeys on public and private lands. Hunters exempt from purchasing the stamp must still obtain a free Exempt Turkey Game Check privilege for harvest reporting, according to the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks.

Exemptions include Mississippi lifetime license holders, youth under 16, residents 65 and older, and residents with disabilities verified by Veteran’s Affairs, the Railroad Retirement Board, or the Social Security Administration. The department also announced that Game Check is now directly linked to the Wild Turkey Stamp or Exempt Turkey privilege.

For more details on the changes, officials recommend visiting mdwfp.com/gamecheck. The live session will be broadcast on the department’s Facebook page next Tuesday night.
