Mississippi trooper struck in construction zone amid distracted driving concerns

A Mississippi State Trooper was involved in a rear-end collision in Jones County while stationary in a construction zone, according to the Mississippi Department of Public Safety.

The trooper’s vehicle was struck by an inattentive driver who failed to slow down or move over despite blue lights indicating a stationary law enforcement vehicle. The incident marks the second such collision involving a trooper in recent weeks, authorities said.

The trooper sustained only minor injuries, officials reported. They emphasized the importance of slowing down, paying attention, and moving over for first responders to prevent similar accidents.

MS DPS urged drivers to remain vigilant in work zones and to follow traffic safety laws designed to protect law enforcement and construction workers.
