Mississippi wildlife agency supports private landowners in conservation efforts
The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks (MDWFP) works closely with private landowners to manage wildlife across the state. With more than 80% of Mississippi’s wildlife habitat on private land, these efforts are vital for conservation success, according to MDWFP.
In a recent episode, the Mississippi Outdoors crew met with MDWFP Private Lands Biologists to learn about wildlife management practices on private properties. The program provides free technical guidance to landowners seeking to enhance habitat, manage game species, and make informed land-use decisions, officials said.
Landowners can request site visits through MDWFP to receive personalized assistance. Bruce Brady Jr., a landowner in Hinds County, shared his experience participating in the Private Lands Program and described what occurs during a site visit.
