Mississippi Wildlife Department Hosts Prescribed Fire Workshops for Landowners

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks thanked participants for attending prescribed fire workshops held over the past few weeks. The workshops aimed to educate private landowners and managers on using fire as a tool to improve wildlife habitats.

Attendees received hands-on training and had the opportunity to interact with certified burn experts, asking questions and learning how to safely implement fire on their properties. The sessions were funded by the Mississippi Outdoor Stewardship Trust Fund.

Partners involved in the workshops included the U.S. Forest Service, Mississippi Forestry Commission, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Mississippi State University Extension Service, Mississippi Wildlife, The Nature Conservancy, Mississippi Prescribed Fire Council, and Mississippi Forestry Association. The department encouraged followers to stay tuned for upcoming fire workshop opportunities.
