Mississippi WMAs Open for Hunting on Jan. 24 and 26 amid weather concerns
Several wildlife management areas in Mississippi will be open for hunting on Jan. 24 and 26. The Mahannah and Phil Bryant WMA Timber Units will be open for hunting on those dates, replacing the usual stand-by draw with open hunting. Check-in remains required, according to the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks (MDWFP).
Areas including Charlie Capps, Howard Miller, Muscadine, Mahannah (pre-drawn units), Trim Cane, and Tuscumbia WMAs will also be open for pre-drawn hunters only. Due to weather and travel concerns, waterfowl draw hunts at these WMAs will be limited to pre-drawn hunters and their parties only on Jan. 24 and 26. Stand-by opportunities will not be available on these dates.
Pre-drawn waterfowl hunters must check in and out using the MDWFP HuntFish app or paper user cards. All other regulations for the WMAs will remain in effect, the department said.
