National Weather Service issues severe weather alert for Mississippi

The National Weather Service has issued a warning for Mississippi, forecasting an enhanced risk of severe weather on Sunday evening. The highest threat is expected in north and central parts of the state, but all areas could experience severe storms, according to the agency.

Potential hazards include tornadoes, damaging winds up to 70 mph, and severe thunderstorms. Residents are advised to stay weather aware and monitor alerts throughout the evening, the National Weather Service said.

Officials recommend having multiple ways to receive weather alerts and knowing the location of a safe place in case of emergency. No injuries or damage reports have been confirmed at this time.
