NEMCC observes Martin Luther King Jr. Day with campus closures

North East Mississippi Community College has closed all its campuses in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The college announced that campuses will be closed today, Jan. 19, and will reopen at 8 a.m. on Jan. 20.

The closures honor the legacy of the civil rights leader, whose quote, “Intelligence plus character—that is the goal of true education,” is often cited in discussions about education and social justice.

The college encourages students and staff to reflect on King’s contributions and the ongoing importance of his message.
