Northeast Mississippi Community College Highlights Student Creative Experiences in Fine Arts Program
Jamyla Elliott of Forest, Mississippi, described her experience as a Fine Arts major at Northeast Mississippi Community College, highlighting the program’s focus on hands-on learning.
In her classes, Elliott has taken and developed her own photographs in photography courses and created original paintings in drawing classes. She also built her own sketchbook as part of her coursework.
She noted that each project allows her to experiment with new ideas, explore her artistic style, and see her work come to life from start to finish. Elliott emphasized that students at Northeast don’t just learn about art—they actively create it.
College representatives say the program aims to foster creativity and practical skills, giving students real-world experience in the arts.
