Severe thunderstorms, cold front to bring gusty winds and freezing temperatures to Memphis area
A Wind Advisory will take effect at 8 a.m. for Memphis, Tennessee, with gusts reaching up to 45 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
A line of strong to severe thunderstorms is expected to approach from the west as early as 3 p.m. Conditions are expected to bring damaging wind gusts, with the potential for tornadoes within the line, authorities said. Any tornadoes that develop could be strong, officials warned.
The storms are associated with a cold front moving through the region. Behind the front, cold temperatures will settle in to start the workweek. Lows Monday and Tuesday mornings are forecast to be significantly below normal, prompting a Freeze Warning for Monday and a Freeze Watch for Tuesday, the weather service said.
Residents are advised to stay vigilant and monitor weather updates throughout the day. A full weather briefing with additional information is available at the National Weather Service’s website.
