Silver Alert issued for missing elderly Mississippi man

A Silver Alert has been issued for a 75-year-old George County man who authorities say may be at risk due to a medical condition.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation announced Saturday that Joe Henry Cumberland of Lucedale has been reported missing and was last seen late Friday morning.

Cumberland was last seen around 11:30 a.m. Friday on Highway 26 in George County, driving west, according to authorities. He was wearing a camouflage jacket, a tan wide-brimmed hat and blue jeans at the time he was last seen.

He is described as 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing about 150 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Authorities said Cumberland is believed to be driving a black 1998 Toyota XTR pickup truck bearing Mississippi license plate 106NT.

Family members told investigators that Cumberland suffers from a medical condition that may impair his judgment, prompting officials to classify the case as an at-risk missing person.

The Silver Alert was activated on behalf of the George County Sheriff’s Office.

Anyone who sees Cumberland or has information about his whereabouts is asked to contact the George County Sheriff’s Office at 601-947-4811 or call 911 immediately.
