Temperatures will gradually increase through the week, reaching normal levels by Wednesday and climbing 3 to 5 degrees above normal by Friday, according to meteorologists.
Humidity is expected to be the main factor driving higher heat indices starting Thursday. A breeze is forecast for Thursday and Friday, which may help make the heat more tolerable.
Additionally, outflow from scattered afternoon thunderstorms could provide localized relief from the heat, forecasters said.
