Mississippi State Parks Director Issues Evacuation Notice

The director of Mississippi State Parks has issued an evacuation notice for Buccanner State Park. The director posted the following on the MSP’s Facebook page:

“Dear Campers,

Due to the forecasted threat of damaging storms, we are issuing an evacuation order for Buccaneer State Park to ensure the safety of all our guests. If you are currently staying at or have upcoming reservations at Buccaneer State Park, we kindly ask that you make arrangements to leave the park by Noon on Tuesday, September 10, 2024.For those with reservations at Percy Quin State Park, Bob M. Dearing (Natchez) State Park, or Paul B. Johnson State Park, we understand that the storm may impact your plans as well. You have the option to cancel any unused reservations, and we will waive all cancellation fees during this period.To cancel your stay, please reach out to the park personnel where you are staying, or contact our main office in Jackson, MS at 601-432-2219. Our team is ready to assist you with any questions or concerns you may have.Thank you for understanding as we prioritize the safety and well-being of all our campers.
