Shots Fired at South Mississippi Fair in Laurel, Two Suspects Taken Into Custody
The South Mississippi Fair in Laurel was closed Saturday night after a shooting took place that injured a teenager. Two suspects have been arrested.
According to Jones County Investigators, the two suspects have been identified as Akealeis McKensie and Jailen Shade. McKensie, age 18, and Shade, age 18, both of Laurel, have been arrested and charged with aggravated assault.
Sheriff Joe Berlin said that the two young men were taken into custody just a few minutes after the shots were fired, according to Pine Belt News.
The male teenager that sustained wounds from the gunfire is said to be in stable condition and receiving treatment at a hospital local to the area.
The investigation into this matter is ongoing. More information will be released as it becomes available.
