Teen Sentenced to 25 Years for Role in Mother’s Murder

OKTIBBEHA COUNTY, Miss. – A Mississippi teenager has been sentenced to 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to the 2023 murder of her mother, Lou Anda Jones.

Lydia Za’nay Flowers was just 13 years old when she conspired with 23-year-old Nathaniel Jamar Davis to carry out the killing. On December 5, 2023, deputies responded to Jones’ home on A.W. Williams Road, where she was found dead from a gunshot wound to the back.

Following the murder, Flowers was reported missing but was located by authorities the next day. Investigators later charged both her and Davis with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and accessory after the fact to attempted murder.

Family members reported prior conflict between Flowers and her mother, including threats that raised concerns before the crime. Flowers, now older, entered her guilty plea this week and was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Davis awaits trial.
