Alcorn State University Homecoming After-Party Cancelled Due to Recent Shootings
Port Gibson, Miss. — The Port Gibson Police Department has announced that Alcorn State University’s planned homecoming after-party has been canceled due to recent incidents of gun violence across the region.
This comes after 5 shootings and 10 deaths with multiple other injuries have occurred across the state.
Police Chief Russell Dorsey said the decision was made to protect the safety and well-being of students, attendees, and residents. “Our priority is the safety of our community,” Dorsey said, extending condolences to those affected by gun violence throughout Mississippi.
