Kossuth Student Dominates in Golf; Wins Coke Tour Two Years in a Row
Gabby Aguirre, a 7th grader at Kossuth, has played against top ranked golfers in North Mississippi, and has earned top ranks against players across the entire state of Mississippi.
Gabby won the Coke Tour 2 years in a row, participated in the Drive, Chip, and Putt challenge earning her the chance to play at The Master’s in Augusta, GA. She made it past the qualifier at the Links Whitehaven in Memphis, placing 3rd overall and 1st in chipping. Her next stop was the regionals in College Grove, TN where she placed 8th out of 12 talented golfers in the southeast. She has plans to try again next summer, with talks of trying to qualify at a USGA Girls Junior, according to her father, Robert.
Gabby has a grueling training schedule and practices between 4-6 days every week in 2 hours blocks each time. She takes one lesson a month with Kirk Jones at Shiloh Ridge.
Her dedication has paid off, especially since she has been playing golf only two short years! During this time, she has also maintained an all A average last year, participates in FBLA, and being a awesome big sister.
As if she isn’t busy enough, Gabby also enjoys hanging out with her friends, painting, spending time with family, playing travel basketball, traveling, and eating.
She aspires to win on the LPGA Tour, own her own real estate, and wants to eventually have her own line of golf apparel. Gabby has a passion for philanthropy and loves helping people is a great feeling. “It spreads joy, love, and hope. A little show of love and appreciation goes a long way,” she says.
