Northeast Mississippi Community College Celebrates 75th Anniversary with Tiger Awards Ceremony

BOONEVILLE, Miss. — July 1, 2024

Northeast Mississippi Community College marked the conclusion of its 75th anniversary celebrations with the presentation of the annual Tiger Awards, recognizing outstanding student-athletes from across its athletic programs.

The Tiger Awards honor individuals who exemplify exceptional qualities both on and off the field. This year’s recipients showcased remarkable achievements and contributions to their respective teams:

Madison Burks from Baldwyn, a member of Northeast’s cheerleading squad, was recognized for her dedication and leadership, enhancing team spirit across various athletic events.

Codey Cleveland of Red Bay, Ala., demonstrated excellence in golf with consistent top performances throughout the season, contributing significantly to the Tigers’ success.

Madison Gardner of Saltillo stood out in women’s basketball, excelling in field goal percentage and blocks, while also making a substantial impact on her team’s morale and performance.

Lee Ellen Kelley from Wheeler emerged as a standout in women’s tennis, rising to the top position in the team lineup through hard work and commitment.

Kevin Kotzé, hailing from Johannesburg, South Africa, led the men’s tennis team to postseason success with his exceptional skill and dedication.

Ava Meeks from Kossuth played a pivotal role in softball, contributing both as a pitcher and batter, and setting a high standard of teamwork and dedication.

Caleb Parr of New Hope showcased his talent in men’s basketball, contributing significantly to the team’s championship win and earning academic accolades as well.

Kristian Sprawling from Olive Branch set records in baseball and demonstrated exemplary sportsmanship and leadership qualities throughout the season.

Holder Usry of Decatur played a crucial role as center in football, demonstrating resilience and leadership that earned him respect both on and off the field.

Kami Wilf from Amory was recognized as the inaugural Tiger Award recipient for volleyball, displaying exceptional skills and leadership throughout the season.

The recipients were honored during the Phi Theta Kappa Honors Day ceremony inside the Claude Wright Room of the Haney Union, where they were celebrated for their achievements and contributions to Northeast Mississippi Community College’s athletic legacy.
