Alcorn County Sheriffs office issues warning of someone posing as officer to attempt to steal bank information

The Alcorn County Sheriffs office has issued a warning of someone posing as a local officer to attempt to steal bank information.

From the Sheriffs department:

CAUTION… We have had multiple reports of an individual calling Alcorn County residents claiming to be a Lieutenant Johnson with the Sheriff’s Office.

The individual is claiming residents have warrants for their arrest and is requesting that they purchase pre-paid debit cards. If you receive a call similar to this do not give any personal information then Hang up immediately. The Alcorn County Sheriff’s Office will never call and request any money from anyone.

Beware of this and other scams going on in the area.
