Bomb threat made with suspicious container near church in Alcorn County
Suspicious Package Found at Alcorn County Church: Road Closed and Residents Evacuated
Today, June 6, 2024, at approximately 1:30 p.m., the Alcorn County Sheriff’s Office received a call from an individual who discovered a suspicious container with a note at Pleasant Hill Methodist Church on CR 614.
Deputies and investigators promptly arrived at the scene and confirmed the presence of the item. The note indicated a potential explosive device.
In response, CR 614 has been closed, and nearby residents have been evacuated as a precaution. The Tupelo Police Department bomb squad has been notified and is en route to assist with the investigation. Authorities urge the public to avoid the area until it has been declared safe.
