Deceased body found in rural Alcorn County with gunshot wound

The body of an unidentified male was found dead of a gunshot wound in rural Alcorn County near the Tishomingo County line early Sunday morning.

From the Alcorn County Sheriffs Department:

On Sunday May 1, 2022 at approximately 4:15 a.m. the Alcorn County Sheriff’s Office received a call that a motorist had discovered a body in the roadway on County Road 182 in the Hopewell community.

Deputies and Investigators arrived on scene and discovered a black male with a gunshot wound deceased in the roadway. The case is being investigated as a homicide.
