Philadelphia Feud Between Families Results in Shooting, 4-Year-Old Hit by Golf Club
Officers with Philadelphia Police Department are currently investigating a shooting that took place in the evening on January 14th, near Main Street and Holland Avenue.
According to Darkhorse Press, around 5:50 p.m. officers were dispatched to respond to reports of gunfire being exchanged.
Upon arrival, the officers learned that Andrew Carter, age 21, had been shot three times.
Carter was transported via private vehicle to Neshoba General Hospital, then was airlifted to University Hospital, where he is currently in stable condition.
At the scene, officers encountered Dqavion Marshall, who was involved in the shooting. A handgun was recovered in his vehicle, and was identified as the weapon used in the gunfire.
Marshall was taken into custody at Leake County Jail and has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
It is believed that the shooting stems from an ongoing feud between the Marshall and Carter families.
Just a few days before the shooting, on January 12th, officers responded to a reported fight at Reunion Court Apartments. Witnesses at the scene reported that Andrika Carter had attacked Marshall’s sisters, but she left the scene prior to the arrival of officers. Charges were later filed.
The following day, Carter allegedly returned to the scene at the apartments, hitting Marshall’s sisters with a golf club during another altercation. A four year old was also injured by the golf club. Three victims were transported to the hospital for treatment.
Carter was arrested later that night. She has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon as well as child abuse.
The investigation into the matter is ongoing.
