Join the Spring Gobbler Hunter Survey to Aid Turkey Conservation

State wildlife officials are calling on turkey hunters to participate in the Spring Gobbler Hunter Survey (SGHS). The survey offers hunters an opportunity to contribute to conservation and management efforts by providing valuable data.

Participants help biologists collect long-term information on gobbling activity, harvest rates, hunter effort, age structure, and sex ratios. This data directly influences turkey management decisions and helps improve hunting opportunities.

According to the wildlife department, no matter a hunter’s experience level, their observations are valuable. The survey requires only a minute or two after each hunt to record observations, and participation is free. The collected data will not be shared publicly.

Hunters interested in participating can learn more at the department’s website: https://www.mdwfp.com/wildlife-hunting/wildlife-species-program/wild-turkey-program/spring-gobbler-hunter-survey.
