Mississippi Auditor’s Office Partners with ICE Under 287(g) Program
The Mississippi Office of the State Auditor has confirmed its participation in the Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s 287(g) program. Agents from the auditor’s office will support immigration enforcement efforts if necessary, according to a statement.
The agency emphasized that illegal immigration costs taxpayers more than $100 million annually. Officials said they aim to reduce this financial burden and prevent waste of taxpayer funds.
The partnership aligns with efforts to address immigration issues and enhance enforcement in Mississippi, the agency added.
