Mississippi Emergency Management Advises Seeking Shelter Amid Cold Weather
Mississippi is experiencing dangerously cold temperatures and winter weather conditions statewide. The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) urges residents to seek shelter if they need a warm place to stay.
Warming centers are operated by city and county officials. MEMA has compiled a list of open shelters and safe rooms reported by local authorities.
In Adams County, a shelter will open on Jan. 24 at 6 p.m. The Adams County Safe Room is located at 323 Liberty Road in Natchez. Service animals and small pets in kennels are allowed. Other shelters include the Alcorn County Warming Shelter at 1624 Glove Street, among others.
Officials advise residents to check with local authorities for the latest information on operational shelters and safe rooms during this cold snap.
