Mississippi MDWFP reminds hunters to apply for 2026 Pelahatchie Bay Alligator Season by Feb. 13
The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks (MDWFP) is reminding hunters that the application period for the 2026 Pelahatchie Bay Alligator Season closes on Feb. 13, 2026.
This year’s season features several changes from the regular August public water alligator season. Notably, this is a partnership application, and permit holders may harvest up to two alligators longer than 6 feet.
No-hunting zones will be established near residential areas, and other restrictions will apply. Harvest reporting is also required for all permit holders.
The permit fee is $100, and all participants must possess an alligator hunting license, which costs $25, along with a valid combination-type hunting license.
For full details, hunters are encouraged to review the administrative rules regarding Pelahatchie Bay regulations. More information is available on the MDWFP website at https://www.mdwfp.com/wildlife-hunting/wildlife-species-program/alligator-program/pelahatchie-bay-special-season.
