Mississippi National Guard Armory Opens for Storm Relief Donations

Mississippi Agriculture Commissioner Andy Gipson announced that the old National Guard Armory on the Mississippi State Fairgrounds will serve as a donation center for storm relief efforts. The facility opened Monday to gather supplies for those impacted by the winter ice storm.

The Armory is open today, January 26, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For the rest of the week, it will operate from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, according to Gipson’s office. The Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce’s team is collecting bottled water, nonperishable food items such as canned goods and soup, can openers, baby diapers and formula, propane cook stoves and bottles, and basic paper products.

The supplies will be delivered to North Mississippi once roads are safe and passable, authorities said. More information is available at https://agnet.mdac.ms.gov/agManage/uploads/3251.pdf.
