Mississippi warns hunters to exercise caution after ice storm damage

Mississippi wildlife officials are cautioning hunters to remain vigilant after a severe ice storm caused numerous trees to topple across the state. The fallen limbs and debris continue to pose risks in woods and hunting areas.

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks recommends hunters be aware of their surroundings and exercise extra caution while in the field this spring. This advice applies whether hunting turkey, small game, or other species on wildlife management areas, national forests, or private property.

Officials emphasize safety as a top priority, urging outdoor enthusiasts to stay alert for falling limbs and unstable trees. Hunters should take precautions to avoid injuries caused by storm debris during this period of recovery.
