Mississippi wildlife officials honor staff at February meeting
The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks honored three staff members at its February commission meeting for their outstanding contributions to wildlife conservation and support of the department’s programs.
Nathan Blount received the 2025 Director’s Award. He is the Federal Aid and Special Projects Coordinator and was recognized for his work on transitioning wildlife bureau applications to a new licensing system.
William Thomason was named the 2025 WMA Conservationist of the Year. He manages Canemount Wildlife Management Area and was recognized for his efforts in managing the property.
William McKinley was awarded the 2025 Wildlife Conservationist of the Year. He is the White-tailed Deer Program Coordinator, noted for his technical expertise and ability to collaborate effectively with diverse groups.
