Tyler Samaniego, a former Northeast Mississippi Community College baseball player, has been promoted to the Boston Red Sox, according to team officials.
Samaniego will wear jersey number 78 and could make his Major League Baseball debut as soon as today in Boston. He is the first player from NEMCC to reach the big leagues, officials said.
Red Sox fans and NEMCC supporters congratulated Samaniego on his achievement, which marks a significant milestone for the player and the college program.
